Rechtecke statt Schriftzeichen

Problem

Bei Debian Linux treten bei den Versionen "Etch" und "Lenny" bei dem Einsatz von 64Bit-Prozessoren bei einigen Applikationen Rechtecke anstatt der Schriftzeichen auf. Hintergrund sind hier fehlende 64Bit-Versionen der jeweiligen Applikationen. Unter anderem tritt dieses Phänomen bei Firefox und dem AdobeReader auf.

Lösung

Unter Debian Linux müssen im ersten Schritt folgende Pakete nachinstalliert werden

  • libpango1-ruby
  • libpango1.0-0
  • libpango1.0-0-dbg
  • libpango1.0-common
  • libpango1.0-dev
  • ia32-libs
  • ia32-libs-gtk
  • linux32

Das geschieht am besten mit

apt-get install libpango1-ruby libpango1.0-0 libpango1.0-0-dbg libpango1.0-common libpango1.0-dev

und

apt-get install ia32-libs ia32-libs-gtk linux32

Anschliessend müssen drei bis vier Dateien angelegt werden:

/etc/pango32/pangorc

[Pango]
ModuleFiles=/etc/pango32/pango.modules
[PangoX]
AliasFiles=/etc/pango/pangox.aliases

32Bit-Programme können dann wie folgt gestartet werden

Sollten die Programme nicht im Suchpfad liegen, so muss der komplette Pfad zum Programm mitangeben werden.
